CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Junior defender Griffin Schultz of the Army West Point men's lacrosse team was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for the first time in his career.
Schultz was one of 12 student-athletes throughout the Patriot League to earn the honor.
Schultz boasts a 3.763 grade-point average while majoring in Economics and minoring in Systems Engineering. The junior has made the Dean's List every semester eligible and has not produced a single semester GPA below a 3.5. In his limited spare time, Schultz tutors his teammates in Economics and Physics.
He dons the Golden Wreath and a Golden Star on his uniform to signify the Superintendent's Award for Achievement and as a Distinguished Cadet. Schultz ranks 214 among his classmates.
The Lancaster, Pa., native was a member of Army's defensive core. He started in all 12 contests and helped the Black Knights' defensive unit which ranks second in the nation in scoring defense (7.67). Schultz is a key member of Army's man-down team and totaled 12 groundballs and four caused turnovers in 2018.
The selection process was conducted by the League's men's lacrosse sports information directors, who could not vote for their own student-athletes.
