April 16, 2018 | Baseball
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Catcher Jon Rosoff of the Army West Point baseball team was named the Patriot League Player of the Week after his impressive performances.Â
The senior earned his first conference weekly honor after helping the Black Knights go 5-0 this week, including a three-game weekend series sweep of league foe Lafayette.Â
Rosoff batted .611 (11-for-18), while reaching base at a .550 clip and slugging .889. The Durham, N.C., native had four multi-hit games, including three doubles and one triple, while crossing the plate eight times and driving in eight runs. Against the Leopards, Rosoff went 8-for-13 with eight runs and five RBIs. He finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader and 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs in Sunday's victory.
Also receiving honorable mention praise was junior pitcher Daniel Burggraaf, who allowed one run on four hits through 5.0 innings to earn a victory against Lafayette on Sunday afternoon. The junior right-hander struck out a season-high nine and walked two to improve to 5-0 on the season.
Army will next travel to Holy Cross for a midweek single game against the Crusaders on Wednesday. That contest is slated for 5 p.m. The Black Knights will then travel to Fenway Park on Friday night for their third meeting of the year with arch-rival Navy. That game is slated for 6 p.m. The following day the Cadets and Mids will play a doubleheader to close out their regular-season series. First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Doubleday Field.Â
