Black Downs Gold in Annual Spring Game

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point football team concluded its spring practice slate with the annual Black and Gold Spring Game on Friday night at Michie Stadium.Â
The black squad score two touchdowns in the second half to break a 7-7 tie at halftime to earn the 21-7 victory.Â
Cam Thomas started the game for the gold team, while Kelvin Hopkins Jr. was under center for the black team to start the game. Luke Langdon, Kell Walker and Christian Anderson also saw time under center during the game.Â
Hopkins Jr. led the black team on the first scoring drive of the game, which ended in a two-yard touchdown run from Connor Slomka. The gold squad answered back in the second quarter with Langdon marching the team down the field and Calen Holt capping off the drive with a two-yard run to pay dirt to tie the game at 7-7.Â
The black team took over in the second half with Hopkins Jr. scoring from short range late in the third quarter and then Rashaad Bolton plunged in from one yard out for the final touchdown of the game. Highlighting the last drive led by Anderson was his long run down the left sideline and then Fred Cooper Jr.'s 25-yard run that included a nice lateral cut move and a stiff arm for a long gain.Â
The scrimmage was cut short after Bolton's touchdown and the final score was 21-17.Â
