WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team dominated Sacred Heart Friday night with a 6-0 shutout victory. Bruns recorded 30 saves, while the Black Knights netted three goals in under two minutes during the final frame to secure the win.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Army captured two critical points in Atlantic Hockey with the victory and currently sit fifth in the league standings.
- It was the Black Knights' fourth shutout win of the year and largest margin of victory.
- The six straight goals was the most unanswered by the Black Knights since last February when the Cadets topped Niagara 6-1.Â
- Bruns picked up his third career shutout in NCAA contests.
- The 30 saves tonight marked his sixth 30 plus save performance this season.
- He now owns a record of 10-9-3 on the year.
- The Cadets posted a season-high 18 points collectively. It was also a season high in assists (12) and tied a season high in goals (6).
- John Zimmerman led the way for the Black Knights with three assists.
- It was the third three-assist performance by an Army player this season. Â
- He was one of five players with multi-point games tonight.
- Tucker DeYoung netted his first and second career goals tonight to pick up two points.
- The freshman recorded the sixth multi-goal game by an Army player this season. It was DeYoung's second multi-point performance in three games.
- Mike Preston tallied the second game-winning goal of his career tonight with the first score of the night.
- He added an assist to tie a career-high two points.
- Brendan Soucie dished out two helpers en route to the first multi-assist game of his career and fourth multi-point performance.
- John Laurito was also responsible for a pair of assists and notched his second multi-assist game.
- Trevor Fidler, Dominic Franco and Conor Andrle were also goal scorers for the Black Knights.
- Andrle now boasts 96 career points and is just shy of the 100 point milestone.
- Fidler scored his sixth goal of the year and 20th in his career.
- Franco's was on the power play to mark the second consecutive game with an extra-man score.
- He now has four power play goals this season.
- Alex Wilkinson, Mason Krueger, Michael Wilson and Dalton MacAfee all had assists in the game.
- Wilson and Franco lead the squad with 27 points apiece.
- Army improves to 11-6-3 when being outshot by opponents and 11-3-3 when scoring first.
- The Black Knights are now 6-6-3 on Fridays and 4-2-1 in the month of February.
HOW IT HAPPENED
PERIOD ONE (ARMY 2 – SHU 0)
- The Black Knights came out strong keeping the puck in Sacred Heart's defensive zone for the first half of the frame.
- Preston was the first to score with a snipe from the point after it was worked around the perimeter by Soucie 2:28 in.Â
- Moments later, Fidler and Andrle worked a two man breakaway, but Brett Magnus pushed the puck aside.
- With 11:02 on the clock, Army was charged with a five minute major. The Black Knights killed it off and were back to even strength with six to go.
- The Black Knights fought off another penalty and capitalized when Preston was released. He skated the puck down the boards to set up Fidler for the score.
- The goal put Army ahead 2-0.
PERIOD TWO (ARMY 3 – SHU 0)
- Army continued to pad its lead in the following frame.
- DeYoung netted his first-career goal just over three minutes into the action.
- Zimmerman cleared the puck up to Soucie who was waiting at the blue line and DeYoung finished in front.Â
PERIOD THREE (ARMY 6 – SHU 0)
- Just like last Friday night, the Black Knights had a flurry of goals in the third period.
- The Cadets netted three goals in under two minutes. Â
- Army's first of the period came 7:29 in on the power play. Franco tipped in Wilkinson's shot with the other assist coming from MacAfee.
- Andrle may have had the goal of the year with a filthy toe drag around his defender for the score 37 seconds later.
- Then at the 10:59 mark, DeYoung struck again to make the score 6-0.
- Sacred Heart dinged the pipe twice tonight to help the Black Knights maintain the shutout.
UP NEXT
- Army will honor 11 seniors prior to tomorrow night's sold out contest at Tate Rink. The two teams will square off at 7:05 p.m. Â
