Black Knights Climb in National Polls

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- After topping No. 10 Rutgers 9-7 on Saturday, the Army West Point men's lacrosse team climbed to ninth in both the U.S. Inside Lacrosse Association/Nike Coaches Poll and in the Maverik Media Poll.
The Black Knights are 3-0 to start a season for the first time since 2015 with a pair of victories last week. Army topped Rutgers and posted a convincing 14-5 win over NJIT.
With Saturday's win, AJ Barretto improved to 3-1 against ranked opponents in the last two seasons. Matt Manown led the Black Knights with a career-high seven points last week with a pair of goals in both contests, while Jon LaMonica dominated on the defensive end with a team leading 14 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Army will test its talents at Syracuse on Saturday. The Orange are ranked 14th in the Coaches Poll and are 16th in the Maverik Media Poll.
