Army Closes Home Slate with Pair of Wins

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's swimming and diving team picked up a pair of victories over Bucknell and Boston College in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon at Crandall Pool.
With the two victories, the Black Knights improved their overall record to 5-2. It was a dominating effort put forth by the Cadets, who went on to claim the first nine events of the meet before defeated the Bison, 223.5-73.5 and the Eagles, 231-66.

ARMY NOTABLES
- The Black Knights picked up 14-event wins in the tri-meet on senior day.
- Prior to the start of the meet, Army honored its seniors, Jason Rodriguez, Evin Rude, Josh Sembrano, Garrett Simon, Michael Stanchi, Ander Thompson and Pat Wall as well as manager Justin McDaniels.
- Tom Ottman took the top spot in the 1000 free with a time of 9:24.52. He would later win the 500 free at 4:35.65.
- In the 200 free, Peter Mikheyev (1:40.71), Graham Ungrady (1:41.77) and Ottman (1:42.44) finished in the top-3.
- Sembrano captained the back events for Army, winning the 100 at 50.14 and placing second in the 200 (1:51.71) after swimming the opening leg of the 200 medley relay squad that finished first.
- Brady Almand and Ty Dang placed in the top-two in the 100 breast, finishing with times of 58.06 and 58.40, respectively. Dang also won the 200 breast after touching the wall at 2:05.71.
- Kevin Doo, James Bilbrey and Arthur Fan swept the top-three spots in the 200 fly, while Brandon McCredie, Hogan Harper and Nathan Hein did the same in the 50 free. Doo and Fan placed first and second, respectively in the 100 fly as well, while Rodriguez finished right behind in third.
- Hudson Kay won the 1-meter dive with a score of 295.45, while Michael Burke edged out the competition for the win on the 3-meter board with his total of 247.50.

- "I couldn't be more proud of our team today," head coach Mickey Wender said. "Our men were firing on all cylinders and honored our seniors in a big way. It was a total team effort. Our firsties did an amazing job leading and our plebes are really starting to come around. Our transitions have improved a lot which showed in the number of close wins we had today."
