ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Army picked up two points with its first win of 2018 to increase its point total in Atlantic Hockey to 18.
- The victory marked the Black Knights' first win over Bentley since Feb. 26, 2016.
- The Cadets scored a power play goal for the third contest in a row. It ties the longest streak this season which occurred against RIT (Oct. 28) and Air Force (Nov. 3-4).
- Army posted four unanswered goals for the first time since Dec. 31, 2016, when it accomplished the feat in a 4-1 win over Colgate. Â
- Wilson netted multiple goals for the second time this season and second of his career with Army's first and third goals in the game.
- He recorded the first hat trick for the Black Knights since Brendan Soucie's on Dec. 10, 2016 at Holy Cross.
- The first was on the power play to mark his sixth man-advantage score of the year and of his two-year career.
- Army now has four games this season with multiple power play goals.
- Trevor Fidler accounted for the team's second goal of the game.
- The Watertown, Mass., native now has four goals on the season and 18 in his career.
- Rookie net minder Jared Dempsey recorded his first-career shutout, making 34 saves in the game.
- It was Army's second shutout of the season after blanking Air Force, 2-0, on Nov. 4.
- The Black Knights held the Falcons scoreless on six power-play opportunities and have now killed off 16-straight penalties.
- Dalton MacAfee, Alex Wilkinson, Tyler Pham, John Zimmerman, Dominic Franco and Mike Preston all tallied an assist in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
PERIOD ONE (ARMY 2 – BENT 0)
- The Black Knights scored nine seconds into their first power play of the game to go up 1-0 over Bentley.
- MacAfee worked the puck to Wilkinson along the perimeter. His shot tipped off Franco's stick and rebounded over Aidan Pelino's head where Wilson tapped it in for the goal at the 15:44 mark.
- Wilson had a close chance for his second of the period with three minutes remaining when Fidler snagged the puck and poked it to Wilson for a breakaway that was saved by Pelino.
- Fidler made it count a minute-and-a-half later, though, when he netted an unassisted goal to increase Army's lead to 2-0.
PERIOD TWO (ARMY 4 – BENT 0)
- Wilson scored a tip-in goal halfway through the second stanza, beating the Bentley goalie short-side.
- Preston took the initial shot from the right circle which Wilson was able to get a stick on and padded Army's lead at 3-0.
- Dempsey recorded a save with 21 seconds remaining with his leg pad before hugging the post for another. Â
- Wilson notched his third of the game off yet another tip. MacAfee swung the puck to Pham as the team tried to reset the power play rhythm. Pham took a chance and fired the puck towards traffic and connected with Wilson on the tip.
- Dempsey made a splitting glove save after the next faceoff to maintain the scoreless game.
