Army Golf Leads Navy After Day One

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Through the first day of the Army-Navy golf annual Star Match, the Black Knights hold a 2.5-1.5 lead over the Midshipmen. Army completed the foursomes portion of the meet and will perform in the individuals segment tomorrow beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m.

"After a tough and windy day, we are happy with the lead. We had some clutch performances down the stretch and that's a credit to the mental toughness of our players. We know it's going to be another grind tomorrow and are excited to watch our guys compete."

Highlights

Army led in three of four foursomes at the turn.
James McKee sank a long putt for eagle on hole four.
On the 12th hole, Gunnar Doyle rolled in a 25-foot putt for birdie. This maintained his and McKee's 1-up lead.
The pair led Navy 1-up for a majority of the match and secured Army's first point of the day on the 17th hole.
