Army Hosts Pioneers for Final Non-Conference Game

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's soccer team will conclude the non-conference portion its schedule when Sacred Heart comes to Malek Stadium on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. showdown.
Prior to tomorrow's game, Army's newly renovated Malek Stadium will officially be dedicated to Fred Malek '59 at 4 p.m. He will then join the team for a pregame ceremony prior to kickoff.
Despite owning the best non-conference record in the Patriot League, a loss in the league opener placed the Black Knights in a tie for seventh in the conference. The Pioneers have yet to begin conference play and currently sit in fifth in the Northeastern Conference (NEC) with a 3-5 mark.
The series between Army and Sacred Heart dates back to 2002, with Army holding the all-time series lead, 7-1-2. Army has claimed the last three meetings, including a 1-0 win over the Pioneers in Fairfield, Conn. on Sept. 27, 2016.
ARMY (5-3, 0-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Army is coming off a 1-0 road loss to Lehigh in the Patriot League opener.
• The Black Knights outshot the Mountain Hawks 15-7 and 8-2 in shots on goal.
• Dating back to last season, the Black Knights have recorded double-digit shots in 15 straight outings.
• Army ranks first in the league by a wide margin in shots (128) and second in goals (11).
• The Cadets allowed just five goals this season, the fewest in the Patriot League.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Stoll has been solid in between the pipes, ranking first in the league in goals-against average (.606) and second in save percentage (.792).
