Game Notes: Army Travels to #8 Ohio State

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point football team takes its 2-0 start on the road this Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff at eighth-ranked Ohio State.

THE OPENING KICKOFF
• The Black Knights are coming off back-to-back wins to start the season after a 21-17 come-from-behind victory over Buffalo at Michie Stadium Saturday.
• Army has started 2-0 for the second straight year, first time since 1979 and 1980 that the Black Knights have started back-to-back years with two wins.
• The Black Knights have yet to give up points in the second half through two games and have outscored their opponents 44-0 following halftime.
• Quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw ran for over 100 yards for the third-straight game dating back to last season with 147 rushing yards opposite the Bulls.
• The Black Knights are riding a five-game winning streak, including the final three games of the 2016 season.
• Army came back from a 10-point deficit against Buffalo and won for the second time when trailing after three quarters under head coach Jeff Monken.
• The Black Knights are 43-50-1 against teams currently in the Big Ten in their history.
• The last ranked team Army defeated was #25 Navy (USA Today Coaches Poll) in 2016, but the last Associated Press ranked team was #15 Air Force in 1972.
ARMY-OHIO STATE SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the first meeting between Army and Ohio State.
• The Black Knights will be playing their first Big Ten opponent since a 31-21 loss to Rutgers in 2015. Army last played a Big Ten team on the road in 2015 at Penn State and dropped a 20-14 decision.
• Army has played eight of the 12 teams currently in the Big Ten in its history.
• The Black Knights have yet to play Indiana, Wisconsin, Purdue or Iowa.
• The last win for the Black Knights over a Power 5 team was last season in the come-from-behind win at Wake Forest by a 21-13 score.
ABOUT THE BUCKEYES
• Ohio State comes into Saturday's game as the eighth-ranked team in the country according to the Associated Press Poll and ninth in the USA Today Coaches' Poll
• The Buckeyes dropped their last game at Ohio Stadium to No. 7 Oklahoma by a 31-16 score in primetime last Saturday night to move to 1-1 overall.
• Ohio State's offense has average 32.5 points per game and the defense has allowed an average of 26 points. The offense has struggled in the red zone with only 50% (5-for-10) touchdown success.
• Senior quarterback J.T. Barrett, who is a dual threat, leads the offense with 487 passing yards in two games along with 127 rushing yards.
• He has three passing scores and a rushing touchdown.
• Parris Campbell has been Barrett's favorite target with 163 receiving yards on nine catches and a score.
• On the defensive side, Chris Worley leads the way with 14 total tackles and a forced fumble, while Sam Hubbard, Nick Bosa and Tyquan Lewis have two sacks apiece.

• The senior quarterback started off his final campaign with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games after tallying 147 against Buffalo.
• He now ranks third among quarterbacks in Army history with seven 100-yard rushing games in his career.
• Bradshaw is tied for 20th all-time in career rushing yards with 1,616 after 453 in the last three games.
• The Chicago native needs 50 yards to past College Football Hall of Famer and 1945 Heisman Trophy winner Felix "Doc" Blanchard for 19th on the list. Â
• He has passed Army greats Rollie Stichweh and Collin Mooney in the last two weeks and entered the year 38th in career rushing.
• Against Fordham in the season opener, he was the first quarterback to run for more than 150 yards since Trent Steelman in 2012.
CASHING IN
• The Black Knights' offense has made the most of their time in the red zone this season.
• Army has finished all 10 of its visits to the red zone this season and nine of them have ended up in the end zone.

SCORING AT WILL
• The Black Knights continued their high-scoring attack from 2016 with another 60-plus outing to begin the 2017 season.

• After a tough first half of giving up 17 points against Buffalo, the Black Knights made the adjustments and shut out the Bulls in the second half and allowed only 48 total yards, including two on the ground.
• The Black Knights have outscored their opponents 44-0 in the second half through two games.
• Army held Fordham to 66 yards on the ground in the opener and 2016 FCS All-American Chase Edmonds was bottled up all night and had only 42 yards.
• Alex Aukerman leads the defense with two sacks, while Jaylon McClinton is tied for the team lead in tackles with 10, along with an interception and a timely forced fumble against the Bulls on Saturday.
COMEBACK CADETS
• Army found itself down 10 points entering the fourth quarter and the outlook was grim as the Black Knights were 1-19 when down heading into the fourth quarter under Monken.
• The Black Knights finished off an eight-minute drive that leaked into the fourth quarter to get within three at 17-14 and then Woolfolk gave Army the lead with just under five minutes left capping off a 13-play drive that took over seven minutes.
• Aukerman made a key sack for a 14-yard loss on the next Buffalo drive to force a three-and-out and then Nick Schrage ran a fake punt to seal the win.
