August 31, 2017 | Women's Cross Country
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's cross country team will travel to Orono, Maine, to start off the 2017 season against the Maine Black Bears on Friday at 3 p.m.
This is the Black Knights' fourth season under head coach Mike Smith.
Â
Army is looking forward to the strength of the sophomore class this season and how the power of five new freshmen runners will affect the team.
Â
"The freshmen will be out there for the first time and we will see what their talent level is and what their competitive desire is," stated Smith. "I expect that as a team, we will be reasonably competitive and I expect that we will perform to the best of our abilities."
Â
Army and Maine are facing off for the third consecutive year. In previous years, the Black Knights have emerged as the victors, defeating the Black Bears with a near perfect score of 16-46 (2016) and then 20-37 (2015).
