2017-18 Women's Basketball Schedule
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point head women's basketball coach Dave Magarity unveiled the 2017-18 schedule on Monday.
The upcoming slate consists of 29 games, with 15 being played inside Christl Arena. Army's non-conference portion of its schedule contains a lot of familiar foes as six of the 11 opponents are from the Tri-State Area. The Black Knights will also be making a pair of trips out west to play Air Force and Marquette, before the start of Patriot League play on Dec. 29.
For just the second time in the last six seasons, the Black Knights will open the season at home as they play host to Binghamton on Nov. 10. The Cadets then will hit the road for back-to-back road contests at Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 13) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (Nov.16).
Army returns to West Point on Nov. 20 to face off against LIU-Brooklyn, before welcoming NJIT to Christl Arena two days later. Following a road contest with Yale on Nov. 26, the Black Knights are back in action to take on Dartmouth on Nov. 29.
The Cadets then make the trek to Colorado, on Dec. 2, for their meeting with Air Force, prior to returning to the Empire State for a matchup with Delaware on Dec. 6.
A tough challenge awaits Army on Dec. 10, when the Black Knights head to Milwaukee to square off against the defending BIG East Champions, Marquette. The Golden Eagles lost just eight games in 2016 and made it to the NCAA Tournament before falling to Quinnipiac by three points in the first round.
To close out the non-conference slate, Army will host St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) for an afternoon affair on Dec. 16.
The second half of the season tips off on Dec. 29 when the Black Knights host Boston U. in the Patriot League opener. The Cadets will be challenged on the road in league play early as six of their next eight games are away from West Point, including matchups against Loyola (Jan. 2), defending league champs, Bucknell (Jan. 5), Lafayette (Jan. 11), Navy (Jan. 14), Lehigh (Jan. 20) and Colgate (Jan. 24).
Mixed in between the long road stretch are a pair of home contests against Holy Cross (Jan. 17) and Loyola (Jan. 27). Following a visit to the nation's capital for a Patriot League game against American (Feb. 3), the Black Knights will be at Christl to host Lafayette (Feb. 7), before taking on Navy in a highly anticipated late-season meeting on Feb. 10.
After playing Holy Cross on Valentine's Day in Worcester, Mass., Army will have three of their last four outings at West Point, starting with a conference tilt against Lehigh (Feb. 17) followed by a matchup with Colgate (Feb. 21). The Cadets' final road contest of the regular season will take place in Massachusetts when Army battles Boston U. on Feb. 24.
Army will close out the regular season when the Black Knights square off against Bucknell on Feb. 28.
The Patriot League Tournament will commence on March 3 and span until March 11.
