2017-18 Men's Basketball Schedule
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fresh off a notable rebuilding year, Army West Point men's basketball is ready to take that momentum into the 2017-18 season.
The Black Knights announced Wednesday their competitive slate. Highlighting the Cadet's 11-game non-conference schedule are contests against ACC foe Wake Forest and service-academy rival Air Force. The game opposite the Falcons will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Dec. 17. Head coach Jimmy Allen will also take his squad down south for The Citadel Classic in which the Black Knights are set to face UMBC and the Citadel or Marist.
The always anticipated rivalry series with Navy will kick off on Jan. 14 in Annapolis, Md. The Cadets will then look to defend the Alumni Trophy on their home court when the teams battle it out for the annual Star game on Feb. 10 in Christl Arena.
"Our non-conference schedule will be a great test for our team," Allen said. "We are pretty heavy with road games this year and look forward to that challenge. We have some exciting match-ups that should definitely get us ready for Patriot League play."
The regular season kicks off on the road at Hofstra on Nov. 10. The Cadets then welcome Division III John Jay College on Nov. 14 for their home opener. Army will be back on the road at Marist on Nov. 18 before hosting Ivy League foe Columbia on Nov. 21.
For the next eight games, the Black Knights will be away from Christl Arena for an extended road swing. They begin at Niagara on Nov. 27 before traveling to South Carolina to meet up with UMBC and The Citadel or Marist at the Citadel Classic on Dec. 1 and 2.
Army will make a quick stop back up north at Binghamton on Dec. 6 before hitting the road again for Wake Forest on Dec. 8. A midweek tilt at St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 12 is scheduled next and will prepare the Cadets for their Sunday showdown with Air Force at MSG. This games marks the Black Knights' out-of-conference finale.
The Cadets then turn their focus to Patriot League play as they begin conference action at Boston University on Dec. 29.
All ten Patriot League schools are scheduled to play each other twice throughout the course of the season. The Patriot League Tournament will have an opening round of games starting Feb. 27. Quarterfinals are set for March 1, with semifinals on March 4. The Championship game is scheduled for March 7.
A number of games have time and television designations still to be determined.
