WEST POINT, N.Y. – Newly instated Army West Point golf head coach Chad Bagley released the program's 2017 fall schedule. The team will participate in three tournaments across the country as well as the head-to-head Bush Cup and Army-Navy Star Match.
"Our team is excited about the challenging and competitive schedule that awaits this fall," said Bagley. "We can't think of a better way to start our season than playing the Stanford Cardinals at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco for the third Annual Bush Cup. We've added a couple new tournament sites with the Hartford Hawk Invitational and Northwestern University's Windon Memorial. Adding new golf courses is always exciting and we look forward to preparing for these two new venues."
First on the docket for Bagley's inaugural season will be the Third Annual Bush Cup against Stanford. The event will be played at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., the oldest athletic club in the United States and the host of the 2012 U.S. Open. The events will kick off with the formal dinner on Sept. 7 with competition beginning the following day.
The Black Knights return to the East Coast for the Hartford Hawk Invitational Sept. 18-19. This tournament will be held at the Bulls Bridge Golf Club with Hartford as the host.
Up next will be the highly anticipated Army-Navy Star Match in Annapolis, Md., Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. "We're always excited to compete against Navy and we really look forward to the opportunity to compete in Annapolis," added Bagley.
After facing Northwestern in the 2016 Bush Cup, Army will travel to the Lake Shore Country Club in Chicago, Ill., to play in the Windon Memorial (Oct. 8-9) hosted by the Wildcats.
"We'll conclude the fall season in El Paso, Texas, once again at UTEP's Price's Give 'Em 5 Invitational," Bagley concluded. "It's always great to visit Fort Bliss and the Butterfield Trail Golf Club. Coach Lieberwirth runs a first class golf tournament every year."
To wrap-up the fall, the Black Knights head to El Paso, Texas, for the Price's Give 'Em Five Intitational hosted by UTEP Oct. 20-22. This will be Army's third straight appearance at the tournament.
