WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point baseball team handed out hardware last week at its annual team banquet.
To kick things off head coach Jim Foster acknowledged Army's four seniors in Alex Dickerson, Kris Lindner, David Monge and Baggio Saldivar.
The event then shifted to the awards presentation.
Junior Jon Rosoff earned the team's Colonel Russell P. "Red" Reeder Jr. Award, which is given to the most outstanding player on the team from the season.
The Maj. Gen. George W. Smythe Memorial Award was then presented to Lindner and Saldivar. This honor is given annually to the team's captains.
The Major Stephen Reich Leadership Award was the next honor to be handed out and Lindner stepped up to receive his second praise of the night. This award is given to the person who best embodies the character traits exemplified by Major Stephen Reich, USMA Class of 1993. The honor is given with emphasis on the following qualities: drive, passion, commitment, courage, and leadership.
Dickerson wrapped up the accolades on the night earning the Doubleday Society Award. This honor is in appreciation for outstanding contributions to Army Baseball, The U.S. Corps of Cadets, and the Long Grey Line through leadership and service in the highest traditions of soldiership and sportsmanship uniquely embodied by General Abner Doubleday, U.S. Military Academy (1842).
