Goff, Genders Lead Army at ECAC Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fueled by Nathan Goff's all-around performance to tie for first and Leo Genders' first-place high bar routine, the Army West Point gymnastics team placed third at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fueled by Nathan Goff's all-around performance to tie for first and Leo Genders' first-place high bar routine, the Army West Point gymnastics team placed third at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
- Goff tied for first in the all-around with Navy's Jonny Tang. The pair scored 80.900 in the event. Goff topped Tang in the pommel horse and parallel bars to match his score.
- Genders championed the high bar with a 13.850 which was 0.100 points higher than the runner-up finisher.
- As a team, Army scored a 392.450 to place third at the ECAC Championships following William & Mary (404.700) and Navy (402.550).
- The Black Knights secured second on the pommel horse (66.600) and was third in vault (68.300) and high bar (64.850).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Genders championed the high bar and was awarded a 13.850 for his routine, 0.100 points higher than the second-best finisher.
- Seth Cannon led the way for Army on floor exercise with a season-high 13.950 to tie for third. Goff and Genders followed with marks of 13.650 to tie for eighth, respectively.
- On the pommel horse, the Black Knights saw Brandon Shively, Goff and Andre Hufnagel tie for fifth after turning out scores of 13.500 each. It was a season-best mark for Shively, a pommel specialist. Elijah-Ty Phelps was close behind with a 13.400.
- Elliot Herman was Army's top finisher on still rings as he posted a 13.600 to capture fourth place. Ryan Wilson was also ranked in the top-10 with a 13.300.
- Alejandro Tombrink and Erik Del Cid excelled on vault as they both earned scores of 13.900 to tie for seventh.
- Goff was the runner-up on the parallel bars as he turned out a 14.150, a season-high. Grant Cullen also saw success and placed ninth with a 13.550.
