April 25, 2017 | Women's Tennis
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sophomore Kirby Einck of the Army West Point women's tennis team was named the Patriot League's Corvias Female Tennis Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks.
This marked the third week in a row that a Cadet has captured the award as Melanie Allen was recognized on April 11 for her efforts against Navy and Einck was honored for her performances versus Lehigh and Boston U., the following week.
Einck tallied wins in both singles and doubles to help the Black Knights tie their Patriot League record for number of league wins in a season. She helped Army secure the doubles point with a 6-3 decision in the top flight against Bucknell on Saturday before coming away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 2 singles position. The Geneva, Ill., native now has 20 wins in both singles and doubles, becoming the only Cadet to reach the milestone in either facet.
The Black Knights are headed to Bethlehem, Pa., this weekend as the top seed in the Patriot League tournament at Lehigh. Army's first match will be Friday in a quarterfinal contest against the winner of No. 8 Lafayette and No. 9 Holy Cross.
