Army Defeats Boston U. in Semifinals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point men's tennis team defeated Boston University, 4-2, in its Patriot League tournament semifinal match on Saturday.

With the win, the Black Knights advance to the championship match which takes place tomorrow at 1 p.m., at the Tose Family Center in Annapolis, Md. Army will take on the winner of the No. 6 Bucknell and No. 2 Navy match that takes place at 2 p.m., today.

The doubles team of Michael Nguyen and Grant Riechmann started off play with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. Sam Lampman and Gregory Shannon raked in the second doubles win to secure the point.

In singles Nguyen fell at the No. 1 flight by a score of straight 6-4 sets. His doubles partner Riechmann captured the first singles point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No. 3 position. Mitchell added another point from the No. 5 flight with a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win. Myles Conlin secured the match tallying 6-4 in both sets at the No. 5 slot.
