Allen Named Female Tennis Player of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Melanie Allen of the Army West Point women's tennis team earned the Patriot League Corvias Female Tennis Player of the Week award after guiding the Black Knights to a 5-2 victory over Navy Saturday.
This was Allen's first recognition of the season.
Allen captured a pair of wins in the No. 1 singles and doubles spots as one of three Cadets to earn victories in both facets against the Mids. She tallied a 7-5, 6-3 decision in singles and a 6-1 win in doubles with her partner, Nancy Porter.
Allen's 15th singles win of the season clinched the Star for Army to bring the 2016-17 Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA to 11-9. She is one of two Black Knights with 15 or more wins in both singles and doubles play on the year.
The Black Knights return to action Tuesday at Rhode Island for a 3 p.m., match.
