Black Knights Host Colgate in Quarterfinals

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The third-seeded Army West Point women's basketball team opens postseason play tomorrow against sixth-seeded Colgate in the Patriot League quarterfinals at 7 p.m. at Christl Arena.
The game is set to be live on the Patriot League Network and on the radio in the Hudson Valley at 1260 WBNR and 1420 WLNA with Justin Rocke on the call.

GAMEDAY STORYLINES
• Army has a familiar postseason foe for the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament as sixth-seeded Colgate comes to West Point.
• The Black Knights have faced Colgate on their home court in the quarterfinals in four of the last five seasons and this is the eighth overall meeting in the postseason between these two institutions.
• Sophomore Madison Hovren has been Army's most consistent offensive player this season. The First Team All-Patriot League selection has averaged a double-double this year and has 15 on the year overall.
• Junior Aliyah Murray has reached double digits in 10 of the last 13 games. Murray's tenacity on the defensive end awarded her the 2016-17 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year award. She was named to the All-Defensive Team and was also honored with All-Patriot League Third Team nods.
NO. 3 ARMY (21-8, 12-6 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• The Black Knights come into Monday's game after a loss to Boston University in the final game of the regular season.
• Army is looking to make the Patriot League semifinals for the fourth consecutive season.
• The Black Knights lead the overall series with Colgate at 41-22, but the Raiders have had more success in the postseason against the Black Knights. Army has a slim 4-3 advantage in postseason play, including an 89-62 win in last year's quarterfinals at Christl Arena.
• In the last meeting on Feb. 8, Hovren, Murray and Janae McNeal all recorded double-doubles as Army downed the Raiders by a 57-47 score. Colgate got ahead by double digits in the first half and had a fourth quarter lead, but the Raiders didn't score in the final four minutes and Army won by 10 points.

• Colgate ended the regular season with their best league finish (sixth) since 2013-14.
• The Raiders are led by All-Patriot League Second Team selection Katie Curtis, who has averaged 12.7 point per game, including 13.3 in league contests.
• Rachel Thompson earned Patriot League All-Rookie Team honors after scoring 10.1 points per game and pulling down an average of 5.5 rebounds per contest.
• Colgate is led by first-year head coach Bill Cleary, who came to Colgate after an eight-year stint at Bloomsburg where he posted a 164-69 record for the Huskies in Division II.

• In addition to her major award, Murray was tabbed as an All-Patriot League Third Team selection and was a voted a unanimous choice to the all-defensive squad.
• Hovren was one of only two players to earn unanimous first team All-Patriot League accolades, joining player of the year Clarie DeBoer.
• McNeal was Army's third postseason honoree with a spot on the all-defensive team for the second straight season.
