Army-Mets Game Moved To Citi Field
March 22, 2017 | Baseball
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Athletics and the New York Mets have announced the exhibition game between Army and the Mets originally scheduled to be played at West Point on March 31 has been moved to Citi Field.
The contest has relocated to the home of the Mets due to field conditions resulting from the recent winter storms that passed through the Hudson Valley. First pitch for the matchup is now scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and will be a seven inning game.
"We are all very disappointed that the weather did not cooperate and provide our cadets and the West Point Community an opportunity to witness this incredible event," Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan said. "We had plans to erect temporary bleachers to expand our capacity and provide as many people as possible the opportunity to be a part of this event, but the storm made that impossible.
"I can't thank the Mets organization enough for their support and willingness to move the game to Citi Field. We greatly appreciate the relationship we have built and hope the team can visit West Point for an exhibition game in the near future."
General admission tickets for the Field Level seating are on sale now at Mets.com or by calling (718) 507-TIXX. Tickets are $10 and net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Mets Foundation. All active and retired military members with military identification will be allowed to attend the game along with one guest for free.
Gates at the Jackie Robinson Rotunda will open at 11:10 a.m. with limited concession locations open. Parking in Citi Field's Lots will be free.
Fans that purchased tickets for the game at West Point will be issued a full refund. Refunds will be issued to the credit card of purchase on March 24. Those not seeing a refund posted to their account by Monday, March 27, should contact the Army West Point Ticket Office at 1-877-TIX-ARMY.
This contest will be the Black Knights' final game before the start of the 2017 Patriot League season as Army opens up at Lafayette the following day. It will also mark the ninth exhibition game between Army and the New York Mets. All previous meetings between these two programs have taken place at West Point's Doubleday Field with the most recent dating back to 1984. The other matchups took place in 1963, 1965, 1967, 1971, 1973, 1975, and 1979.
