Black Knights Travel to St. Louis for NCAAs

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Logan Everett, Russ Parsons, Andrew Mendel and Samson Imonode of the Army West Point wrestling team are traveling to the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., to compete at the NCAA Championships from Thursday to Saturday.

ARMY (7-5, 5-3 EIWA)
• Last time out, the Black Knights took fourth at the EIWA Championships for the second year in a row by placing seven wrestlers on the podium.
• It marked the first time since '91-'92 that Army had back-to-back top five finishes at the conference tournament.
• Senior co-captain Russ Parsons earned a berth to his first-career EIWA championship bout, finishing as the runner-up after a hard-fought 4-2 setback against Cornell's Dylan Palacio.
• Parsons leads the team in wins (26), dual wins (nine) and technical falls (seven), while ranking second in bonus-point victories (15) and major decisions (six).
• He is the only Army wrestler seeded in this year's tournament as the 11-seed at 157 pounds.
• Senior Samson Imonode is third in wins for Army with 24, while Andrew Mendel's 23 victories on the season places him tied for fourth.

ARMY AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Army returns three of its five NCAA qualifiers from last season in Logan Everett, Russ Parsons and Samson Imonode, with Parsons being the most veteran member of the group as he is making his third appearance at the big dance. Â
• Everett and Imonode are both making their second appearance in as many years at the NCAA Championships, while Mendel is making his championship debut.
• The Black Knights have earned 19 All-American honors in program history, most recently Matt Kyler in 2008 when he placed sixth at 141 pounds.
• Army's lone three-time All-American was Phillip Simpson from 2003-05.
• In 2016, Army sent five wrestlers to the national tournament, the most since 2008.
• The program's best team finish came at both the 1965 and '66 championships when the Black Knights finished 10th.
