Army Breaks into National Polls

WEST POINT, N.Y. - After its thrilling last-second victory over sixth-ranked Syracuse, the Army West Point men's lacrosse team jumped into both national polls this week.Â
Army sits in the 15th spot in the Nike/United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll, while the Black Knights are 16th in the Maverik Media. Poll.Â
Army had bee receiving votes in each poll since the start of the season, but its first win over Syracuse since 2010 moved them into the top 20. The Black Knights are one of two Patriot League teams in the polls as Loyola sits in the 12th spot in both rankings.Â
Cole Johnson leads the way for the Black Knights with 16 points on 11 goals and five assists. David Symmes, who had the gamewinner against the Orange is second on the team with nine points on seven goals and two helpers.Â
The Black Knights are back in action on Saturday as Army hosts Lafayette in the Patriot League opener at Michie Stadium. Tickets are still available for the game, which faces off at 12 p.m.
