Army Heads To Duke For 3-Game Series
February 22, 2017 | Baseball
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point baseball team will be back in action this weekend for three games at ACC foe Duke.
Â
The Cadets kick off the weekend against the Blue Devils with a Friday 4 p.m. first pitch. They will then meet up again on Saturday and Sunday with both game times scheduled for 1 p.m. All contests for Duke's home-opening weekend will be played at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Â
The Black Knights went 1-3 over their opening weekend but faced tough competition, including No. 2/3-ranked LSU for a doubleheader. Their lone victory came in the weekend finale where they downed Tulane 7-4.
Â
Senior Alex Dickerson was a big factor in that win, driving in all seven of Army's runs after finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles. For the weekend, he batted .444 (4-for-9) while slugging .667 and getting on-base at a .545 clip.
Â
The Roswell, Ga., native's seven RBI in that contest were the most by an Army player since Cody Murtle '12 notched six in a victory over Sacred Heart on March 10, 2012. He was one shy of tying the program record of eight held by Mike Scioletti (8 vs. New York Tech – 1997) and Dan Kirk (8 vs. Brooklyn – 1987).
