February 14, 2017 | Hockey
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior Conor Andrle and Freshman Brendan Soucie received Atlantic Hockey weekly honors after combining for eight points in the team's sweep over Niagara.
Andrle was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week for the second time this season as Soucie picks up Rookie of the Week honors for his second occasion, while also being named the Player of the Week once.
Andrle led the Black Knights with five points on the weekend on two goals and three assists. He netted the game-winner in overtime Saturday night with 41 seconds remaining to mark the first extra time victory for Army in 11 tries dating back to Jan. 30, 2016, also against the Purple Eagles.
The St. Louis Park, Minn., native totaled six shots over the two games and finished +3. It was Andrle's fifth multi-point game of the season and 14th of his career at Army.
In Friday's game, Soucie fueled the Black Knights' run of six unanswered goals with two of his own and an assist in the 6-1 victory over the Purple Eagles. The South Dennis, Mass., native recorded his third multi-goal game of the season and was one point shy of his career-high of four in a game.
Army will face Holy Cross next weekend for a home-and-home. Friday night's game will be held in Worcester, Mass., while Saturday's contest will be at Tate Rink. Both are slated for a 7:05 p.m. opening faceoff.
