League Play Commences Friday for Women's Hoops

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After having nearly two weeks off for the holiday break, the Army West Point women's basketball team jumps back into action this Friday to host Boston U. in the Patriot League opener slated for 3 p.m. at Christl Arena.

GAMEDAY STORYLINES
• Army has won its previous two Patriot League openers. In their last 13 league openers, the Black Knights are 12-1.
• In the last seven league openers that the Black Knights have hosted, they are 7-0. The Cadets have not lost at Christl in the first game of league play since the 2003-04 season.
• The Black Knights have claimed eight of the nine previous matchups with the Terriers.
• Junior Madison Hovren is five rebounds shy of reaching 500 for her career. She would be just the 25th Cadet in Academy history to reach that mark.

• Hovren tallied 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting to pair with seven boards in Army's win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Dec. 16. For her standout performance, she earned her third Patriot League Player of the Week recognition of the season and ninth of her career.
• Senior Destinee Morris knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in Army's game against St. Joseph's Brooklyn to give her 101 career made shots from beyond-the-arc. She is just one of seven Cadets in program history to eclipse 100 made three's.
• Army's 107-point performance in the win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn was the first time since 2013 that a Patriot League school scored over 100 points in a game. (Last time: Army vs. CSI, 108-64). Since 1977, Army has reached 100 points just four times and has won all four contests.

• After starting the 2017-18 campaign with a 5-2 overall mark that featured wins over Northeastern, Delaware, Boston College, Bryant and Vermont, the Terriers have fallen off and dropped their previous three contests.

• Offensively, the Terriers are being powered by a standout rookie in Katie Nelson. The first-year guard is averaging 11.4 points per game, while handing out a league-best 4.1 assists per outing.
