Brinson Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® Honors

AUSTIN, Texas - Junior linebacker Kenneth Brinson was voted onto the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Division I Football First Team on Thursday.
Brinson was selected by the Sports Information Directors from around the country as a first team honoree.
A Kennesaw, Ga., native and chemical engineering major, has started every game at outside linebacker since his arrival at West Point in the fall of 2015. He has played in a total of 37 games and has 99 career tackles. He has 8.5 sacks in his career with four total in back-to-back seasons in 2016 and 2017. He is also a member of the Dean's List and has earned the Superintendent's Award while at West Point. Before arriving at the academy, Brinson was honored by the National Football Foundation as a National High School Scholar-Athlete.
No less than 33 of the 50 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Football Team have at least a 3.90 G.P.A. Brinson was one of 14 student-athletes that have maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate students. The 25 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.94.
Brinson and the Black Knights are heading to Texas next week for the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, which will air live on ESPN at 2:30 pm CT at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
