Davis Honored With Broyles Award Nomination

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Brent Davis was among 56 nominees for the 2017 Frank Broyles Award, which honors the top assistant coach in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
The 56 nominees in this year's class were selected from approximately 1500 assistant coaches representing 129 Division I programs across the country. For the first time in the award's 22-year history, a committee representing the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) was also included in the Broyles Award selection process.
Davis has led an Army offense that currently ranks second in the nation in rushing and in third down conversion percentage. He has also orchestrated a solid offensive attack, which has numerous threats in Ahmad Bradshaw, Kell Walker, Darnell Woolfolk, and Andy Davidson. Under center, Bradshaw has already rushed for over 1,000 yards and currently sits ninth in the country with 1,228 yards on the season. Walker is second on the team with 544 yards on the ground and leads the team with 111 receiving yards. Woolfolk is tied with Bradshaw with nine rushing touchdowns this season. Davis has also helped guide two former linebackers into notable roles at fullback the past two seasons. Davidson and Calen Holt have been major contributors to the running game.

The Broyles Award honors college football's top assistant coach. The award was established in 1996 to recognize legendary head football Coach Frank Broyles. Coach Broyles had a track record of producing some of the most successful assistant coaches in college football history.
An 18-member selection committee of distinguished former head coaches, along with a committee representing the Football Writers Association of America will select 15 semi-finalists and five finalists from the list of nominees and an overall winner. Those finalists will be invited to travel to Little Rock, Ark. where the 2017 Broyles Award winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 5th at the Marriott Hotel.
