Game Notes: Army Welcomes Eastern Michigan

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team looks to continue its home-field advantage on Saturday as the Black Knights welcome Eastern Michigan to Michie Stadium.

THE OPENING KICKOFF
• The Black Knights are riding a two-game winning streak heading into Saturday's game and have won four of their first six games this season.
• Dating back to last season, Army is 7-2 in its last nine games and the last stretch with seven wins in nine games came in 1996.
• Army has won four of its first six in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1988-89.
• The Eagles have lost their last three games, including conference matchups against Ohio and Toledo.
• The Black Knights turned six turnovers into 35 points in the 49-12 win over Rice last Saturday.

• This will be the eighth meeting all-time between the Black Knights and Eagles with the first meeting happening in 1992.
• Army won the inaugural contest 57-17 and has scored 50 or more points against the Eagles in three of its six wins.
• The teams last met back in 2015 and the Black Knights ran for 556 yards and won 58-36 on the road.
• Army comes into Saturday's game with a two-game winning streak over the Eagles.
• Back in 2013, Terry Baggett ran for a program record 304 yards against EMU and Trent Steelman racked up 212 rushing yards in 2012.
• The Eagles won that game in 2012 by a 48-28 score for the lone victory in the series for EMU.

ABOUT THE EAGLES
• Eastern Michigan comes to West Point on a three-game losing streak with losses to Ohio, Kentucky and Toledo.
• The Eagles started out the season with wins over Charlotte and Rutgers.
• They have a stingy defense that is allowing only 18 points per game and all three loses have come by a touchdown or less.
• Shaq Vann is the leading rusher on the team with 210 yards on 58 carries for a 3.6 yards per carry average. Ian Eriksen has four of the Eagles' rushing touchdowns.
• EMU attacks through the air with quarterback Brogan Roback, who has racked up 1,280 yards passing and five touchdowns to six interceptions.
• Sergio Bailey is the leading receiver with 419 yards on 29 catches and two touchdowns.
• On the defensive side, Jeremiah Harris has seven sacks, while Brody Hoying has two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery to go along with 26 tackles.

• Army entered the Rice game without a turnover in 13 straight quarters and preceded to force four in the first 15 minutes at Rice.
• The Black Knights ended up with six on the day, which was the most since Army did it against Boston College in 1995.
• The six turnovers resulted in 35 of the 49 points Army scored.
TO THE MAX
• Army has seen its fair share of injuries in the secondary and with the loss of Rhyan England, Max Regan has stepped up.
• He started against Rice and had a pick-6, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the victory.
• Regan has the last two defensive touchdowns for the Black Knights with the interception return last week and the fumble recovery for a score against UTEP last season.
• He has 14 tackles in his limited time in the secondary, but has one of Army's two interceptions on the year.

• Slotback Kell Walker had quite the performance on Saturday against Rice with a career high 127 yards on 10 carries to average 12.7 yards per carry.
• He helped Army capitalize on Rice's mistakes as two of his three touchdowns came after turnovers by the home team.
• Walker was the third player this season to go over 100 yards rushing and the first slotback to rush for 100 yards since Terry Baggett had 102 yards against Western Kentucky in 2013.
FULLBACK FINISHERS
• Army continues to cycle in three fullbacks with the absence of Darnell Woolfolk.
• Rice contained the fullbacks on Saturday, but the bright spot was rookie Sandon McCoy, who finished with a career-best 42 yards on eight carries.
• Davidson's number was called to help lead the Army offense against UTEP for the second straight week, and he came up with a career-high 100 yards on 14 carries.
• He had a long rush of 32 yards on his second touchdown run of the season and his 14th of his career.
