WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team returns to the road Saturday with a visit to Rice for an early evening clash in the Lone Star State.

THE OPENING KICKOFF
• The Black Knights, who got back on track last Saturday with a 35-21 win over UTEP, are winners of three of their first five games this season.
• Army has achieved three wins in its first five in back-to-back seasons, which hasn't happened since the 1988-1989 seasons.
• With a win, Army will have four victories in its first six games in back-to-back seasons.
• Rice comes into Saturday's showdown with a 1-4 mark after falling to Pittsburgh on the road by a 42-10 score last week.
• The Black Knights took a two-touchdown lead in the third quarter against the Miners and never looked back.
• Army got touchdowns from all three fullbacks, including two from Connor Slomka, who came into the game with one career score.
• Andy Davidson led the ground attack with his seventh career 100-yard rushing game. He has ran for 100 yards in back-to-back games after earning the start with Darnell Woolfolk being sidelined with an injury.

ARMY-RICE SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the eighth meeting all-time between the Black Knights and Owls with the first meeting happening in 1958.
• Army won the inaugural contest 14-7 as part of the last undefeated season for the Black Knights.
• This is the fourth season in a row that these two schools have met on the gridiron.
• Rice has won five of the last six meetings since the 1958 game.
• The Black Knights broke the five-game slide last year with a convincing 31-14 victory at Michie Stadium.
• The Owls won a rain-soaked game last time out at Rice Stadium thanks to a Zach Wright touchdown catch with 24 seconds left in the game to pull out a 38-31 victory.
• Rice has won two of the previous three meetings in Houston.
ABOUT THE OWLS
• Rice comes into Saturday with one win on the year and it came against UTEP
• The Owls have allowed an average of 33.8 points per game, while scoring just under 12 points a contest.
• Quarterback Jackson Tyner has started three games this season, including at Pitt, where he threw three interceptions on 32 attempts.Â
• Samuel Stewart is the leading rusher with 191 yards on the year, but missed the Pitt game. Austin Walter had 39 yards against the Panthers and has 153 yards on the year.
• Rice has three receivers with over 100 yards through the air with Aaron Cephus leading the way with 133. Walter is second with 112 and Stewart is third with 109.
• On the defensive side, Emmanuel Ellerbee is back and leading the team with 44 tackles and had 10 against Stanford and 15 versus Houston.

FULLBACK FINISHERS
• Army cycled in three different fullbacks during the UTEP game on Saturday and all three made significant contributions to the game.
• Davidson's number was called to help lead the Army offense for the second straight week, and he came up with a career-high 100 yards on 14 carries.
• He had a long rush of 32 yards on his second touchdown run of the season and his 14th of his career.
• Calen Holt chipped in with a solid 52 yards, which was a career best, and he found paydirt for the first time in an Army uniform.
• Connor Slomka finished with 46 yards on the ground and had a pair of touchdowns and has three scores in his last two games.

CLIMBING THE RANKINGS
• Senior quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw started off his final campaign with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games against Fordham and Buffalo.
• He now ranks third among quarterbacks in Army history with seven 100-yard rushing games in his career.
• Bradshaw is now 16th all-time in career rushing yards with 1,824 after 93 against UTEP.
• The Chicago native passed College Football Hall of Famer and 1945 Heisman Trophy winner Felix "Doc" Blanchard at Tulane and passed Tommy Bell against UTEP.
• He has passed Army greats Rollie Stichweh, Collin Mooney and Ronnie McAda just this year alone.
• Bradshaw is 37 yards away from Gil Stephenson, who is 15th on the list with 1,861 yards.
• Bob Anderson is 14th all-time with 1,887 yards on the ground.

• With his seventh 100-yard rushing game of his career on Saturday, Davidson is now tied for 11th all-time, along with Bradshaw.
• He had five of his seven 100-yard rushing games last year.
• He has played a total of 18 games at fullback after playing his rookie season at linebacker.
• Davidson has 1,268 career rushing yards, a 5.2 yards per carry average, and 14 rushing touchdowns.

• Alex Aukerman has been the best defender this season for the Black Knights at disrupting the backfield.
• He has continued to pressure offenses and has a team-best three sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss in five games so far this year.
• He is a hybrid-type of defensive player that can play outside linebacker, but can also rush the passer from the defensive line position.
• Aukerman has at least one sack in four of the five games this season and has five tackles for loss in the last two contests.
