Mazzei Earns Patriot League Rookie of the Week

West Point, N.Y. – Freshman Daniel Mazzei of the Army West Point men's cross country team was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Mazzei was one of the top freshmen in last weekend's Paul Short Invitational held at Lehigh University. Taking 99th of 359 competitors, Mazzei earned a spot as one of Army's top-five runners with a time of 24:50.

This particular meet is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the country. The event featured many nationally and regionally ranked teams who competed with approximately 6,000 athletes from close to 450 colleges and high schools. Mazzei helped lead the Black Knights to a seventh-place finish out of 40 total schools.Â
