ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS
Four players found themselves in double-figure scoring during Loyola's last outing at Lehigh on Thursday. Jarred Jones led the way with a game-high 24 points, followed closely by Andre Walker's 23 points. Andrew Kostecka and Cam Gregory closed out the Greyhounds in twin figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Gregory pulled down a team-best eight rebounds, while Matt Staubi handed out a team-high six assists.
Overall, Jones is leading the team averaging 16.6 points per game, which is good enough for third in the conference. Walker is second with his mark of 15.2 points per outing (sixth in league), while Kostecka comes in with 8.2 points per contest. Jones is also tops on the team in rebounding with 7.4 per game (fifth in league), with Gregory following closely with a mark of 5.9 per outing. Walker's 3.9 assists per game has him ninth in the league and first on the team as well. Jones is also posting 1.1 blocks per contest (third in league), while Walker's 1.8 steals per outing is third.
LAST TIME OUT
Army dropped a 79-74 decision at Lafayette on Thursday night. Lafayette started hot and never really wavered throughout the game. Army tried to battle back after allowing the Leopards to take a 12-point first half advantage and pulled within 53-52 after rookie Tommy Funk converted on a layup with 8:13 remaining. Unfortunately, the home team answered with a 14-3 run to extend the edge back to 67-55 a little less than five minutes later. Again the Cadets tried to spark a comeback with an 11-2 run, highlighted by two 3-pointers from Luke Morrison, to make it a one possession game at 69-66 with 1:29 left on the clock. But for the second time, the Leopards had an answer. First-year Hunter Janacek drained a key trey on the wing during Lafayette's next possession to ultimately seal the home team's sixth victory of the year.
Funk led the Black Knights after matching his career-high with 13 points. Three other Cadets reached twin figures in Matt Wilson (12 points), John Emezie (11 points) and Jordan Fox (10 points). Wilson has now recorded double figures for the fifth-straight game, marking the second time in his young career the rookie has achieved this feat. Fox added 10 assists to match his career-best effort, while Emezie chipped in a career-high eight rebounds to lead Army on the boards.
Andre Walker hit a 3-pointer with just eight-tenths of a second remaining on Thursday, giving Loyola its only lead of the game in an 84-83 victory at Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks took the lead 45 seconds into the game, and they were ahead until Walker stepped back and hit a 22-foot three to lift the Greyhounds to the win. Loyola made a season-high 11 3-pointers in 22 attempts. Walker finished with 23 points and four steals, while Jarred Jones had 24 points, six rebounds and three steals for Loyola. Cam Gregory logged 13 points, 11 that came after halftime, and pulled down eight rebounds for Loyola. Andrew Kostecka added a career-high 15 points to go with seven rebounds.
Lehigh shot 57.1 percent from the field and led by as many as 18, 60-42, with 13:52 left in regulation. Late in the game, Walker was fouled and made two from the line, narrowing Lehigh's lead to just one, at 82-81. Loyola then fouled Austin Price with 18 seconds left, and he made the front end of two as Jones grabbed the defensive rebound after the miss on the back side. After a called timeout, Walker passed to Jones who jabbed stepped toward the paint and threw a pass to Walker on the right wing. The junior guard dribbled back to the top of the perimeter, shot-faked and let a defender fly by before making the three for the win.
TWIN FIGURES
Sophomores Jordan Fox and John Emezie along with rookie Matt Wilson have recorded five-game double-figure scoring streaks so far this year. During Fox's streak (Nov. 30 - Dec. 19), he led the Black Knights in scoring on three different occasions. Emezie's and Wilson's streak dated from Nov. 20 - Dec. 3. Wilson then skipped two games but has found twin figures in each of Army's last five outings (Dec. 19 – pres.) to again post a multi-game scoring streak. He's currently riding that into Sunday's contest.
A WIN OVER LOYOLA WOULD...
Hand Army its seventh win of the season and make up for last year's 100-99 double overtime loss in Christl Arena. It would also hand the Cadets their first win of the early Patriot League season.
ARMY VS. PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS
The Black Knights are 263-378 all-time against current members of the Patriot League. Of the nine other schools in the league, Army has faced Navy (125 times), Colgate (119 times) and Lehigh (105 times) the most. Army leads three series against Patriot League schools in Colgate (61-58), Lehigh (63-42), and Loyola (4-3). The Cadets have also competed against American (10-26), Boston University (8-14), Bucknell (21-52), Holy Cross (21-62), Lafayette (27-44) and Navy (48-77).
EFFICIENCY IS KEY
Strong shooting and the ability to spread the ball around are both keys to Army's success. The Black Knights' 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio is second the Patriot League, while their 16.2 assists per game and 44.3 field goal percentage rank second and fifth, respectively. With no one truly dominating the ball offensively, it is helping to create open looks for shooters on the outside, where the Cadets are tops in the conference with 9.7 made 3-pointers per game. That mark also has them 21st in the NCAA.
SOPHOMORE SWAG
Jordan Fox has really emerged as a leader for the Black Knights. He currently leads Army and is 12th in the Patriot League averaging 13.3 points per game. What's more impressive though is how he's scoring. The sophomore has converted on 72 of his 150 attempts from the floor. That's good enough for .480 percent shooting, which has him sixth in the league. Things don't stop there, as Fox is second in the conference with a .438 mark from behind-the-arc. He is averaging 2.1 treys per outing, which is seventh in the league as well. In addition to that, Fox leads the team with a .852 percentage from the charity stripe. The Jackson County, Ky., native is first in the conference with a 2.6 assists-to-turnover ratio, recording 74 assists to just a league-low 29 turnovers. And lastly, Fox has posted double figures in 10 of Army's 15 contests.

Army remains at home for a midweek tilt with Colgate on Wednesday. That contest is slated for a 7 p.m. tip in Christl Arena. The Raiders are at Navy on Sunday before heading to West Point three days later. Colgate currently sits with a 1-2 league mark to go along with its 3-13 overall record.
