Evancho Collects AHA Rookie of the Week Honors

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Following a two-point weekend at the Ledyard Classic, freshman Zach Evancho of the Army West Point hockey team has been named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday.
This is Evancho's first nod from the league in his career, and he is the third Black Knight to receive Rookie of the Week distinction for the 2016-17 season.
The Buffalo, N.Y., native extended his point streak to five games with an assist opposite Dartmouth in the team's 2-2 tie and the game-winning goal against Colgate.
Evancho has been a constant for the Cadets on the power play and netted his fifth of the year this past weekend against Colgate.
Currently, Evancho ranks second for Army in points with 13. He led the team during the month of December on four goals and two assists.
The Black Knights return to league action this weekend in Massachusetts. Army will face Bentley on Thursday night for Frozen Fenway at 7:30 p.m. The Cadets will then take on the Falcons at the Ryan Skating Arena on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. start.
