Lacrosse Clinic Remains a Hit with Community
January 23, 2017 | Men's Lacrosse
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's lacrosse team hosted its 10th annual lacrosse clinic on Sunday at Foley Athletic Center.
The event allowed over 400 attendees a chance to interact with the Black Knights while learning more about the game of lacrosse. The first session was the younger kids with ages 6-11 and they learned the basics from ground balls, shooting and faceoffs. The second session included ages from 12-18 and had a little more pace and speed to the different drills.
"It was a wonderful day for the local lacrosse community," head coach Joe Alberici said. "The turnout was excellent for the 10th year in a row and I hope the players and their families enjoyed the opportunity to be coached by our Division I players."
The two different sessions also got some time to play in scrimmages at the end of the drills, followed by a wrap up talk by Alberici at the end.
"Not only was it important for novice players and experienced ones to learn more, it was another chance for our cadets to see how much of an impact they can have in their community," Alberici said.
The Black Knights have started their preparation for the 2017 season and are less than three weeks away from opening the season at UMass on Feb. 11.
Tickets are on sale now for all home lacrosse games. There are select games that will be ticketed and some that are free admission. A full-price season ticket can be purchased for $25.
