Football Holds Second Scrimmage

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team continued it preparation for the 2016 season with its second scrimmage.

The Black Knights went against their scout team throughout the scrimmage and won 38-13.

HIGHLIGHTS

Army scored touchdowns on four of its first five possessions.
The Black Knights had four drives of six or more plays, including an 8-play, 83-yard TD drive.
Army had a total of 328 yards rushing in the scrimmage and 420 yards of total offense.
The scout team found the end zone twice with both coming through the air as Joe Corless Jr. and Juwan Grifftih-James each hauled in TD catches.
All six quarterbacks saw action in the game. Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 24 yards and threw for 33 yards, while Carter had 22 yards through the air and touchdown pass. Rookie Malik McGue had a team-high 39 yards passing.
Jordan Asberry had a team-high 23 yards receiving, while Tyler Campbell caught the only first team touchdown pass of the day.
Christian Drake had a total of 162 all-purpose yards in the scrimmage and was the star of the day.
John Voit had two sacks in the game and 3.5 tackles for loss to lead the defense.
The special teams unit blocked a punt and a field goal, while also tackling the punter on fourth down when he was trying to get the punt off.
Campbell had one of the punt blocks, while Malik Crossdale tackled the punter on fourth down.

Up Next: The Black Knights continue their preparation for the 2016 season with another week of practice coming up. Army opens the season on Sept. 2 at Temple at Lincoln Financial Field. The Black Knights open the home slate on Sept. 10 against Rice.
