August 10, 2016 | Football
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team was on the field in the morning for the first of two practice sessions on Wednesday. Wednesday morning's session marked its 10th practice of the preseason camp.
Â
The Black Knights took the field under overcast skies, with temperatures hovering around the mid-70s. Players worked on positional drills to begin the practice before the team competed in an 11-on-11 game-like situation.
Â
The offense focused on working out of the option early and later switched passing drills. Passing work included short throws to backs and deep passes to wide receivers in one-on-one situations.
Â
Plays of the Day: Defensive back Mike Reynolds came down with two interceptions over a span of three plays to help the defense to a win in the period.
The morning session ended with a quick-hands game that tested players' reflexes, with the offense ultimately winning out over the defense.
Â
Thursday's Schedule: The team will hold Media Day on Thursday afternoon and will not be on the practice field. The Black Knights return to the field on Friday for a double session, beginning at 9:15 a.m. and finishing up with an afternoon practice at 4:30 p.m. Also a reminder the Black Knights will hold their first scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. on Michie Stadium.
