Men’s Soccer Adds 12 For 2016 Season

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Seventh-year head men's soccer coach Russell Payne and his staff announced the addition of 12 players for the 2016 campaign.
The Army men's soccer Class of 2020 includes four players who competed on club programs in the United States Soccer Development Academy and three individuals who join the team after spending a year at the United States Military Academy Prep School.
Jon Benson comes to West Point from Wheeling, W.Va., where he played soccer at Wheeling Park High School and competed on the Riverhounds Development Academy team in Pittsburgh, Pa. At Wheeling Park High School, Benson collected All-Ohio Valley Athletic Conference praise in 2014 and 2015, and was a West Virginia Coaches Association All-State selection in 2015.
Peter Davis joins the Black Knights with club experience from the Ballistic United Soccer Club. Davis also played soccer at Monte Vista High School and was named the school's Male Athlete of the Year as a senior. A native of Danville, Calif., Davis was also selected to the East Bay Athletic League second team in 2015.
Rex Epps arrives from Irmo, S.C., after playing for the South Carolina United Battery of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Epps finished his time with South Carolina United as the team's all-time goals leader with 56 goals from 2012-15. He ranked among the IMG Top 150 Players for the Class of 2015 and gained additional experience at Dutch Fork High School. Epps most recently competed at USMAPS where he set the all-time record for goals with 22 during the 2015 season. Epps was also a member of the U.S. U-15 national team.
One of two goalkeepers joining Army for 2016, Matt Evans played for the Connecticut FC North club program. Evans also competed at Enrico Firmi High School in Enfield, Conn., where he was an All-Central Connecticut Conference selection in soccer and track & field in 2015.
Zac McGraw played for FC Golden State of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and for the USMAPS soccer team prior to arriving at West Point. He collected Defensive Player of the Year honors at FC Golden State and was selected as an All-California Interscholastic Federation player. McGraw also played at West Torrance High School in his hometown of Torrance, Calif., and was named the Daily Breeze Player of the Year and team MVP as a senior.
A midfielder from Massapequa, N.Y., Peter Meyer arrives at West Point after playing for the Massapequa Soccer Club Raptors and competing in soccer at Massapequa High School. Meyer was named Nassau County All-Class Player of the Year and earned the Richard Doust Scholar-Athlete Award as a senior, while also drawing conference Player of the Year honors and All-Long Island Team praise.
Tyler Mitchiner had an impressive season at USMAPS last season, after competing on the Chargers SC team in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Mitchiner also played soccer at Palm Harbor University High School in Palm Harbor, Fla., and calls Clearwater, Fla., home.
David Neaverth comes to West Point from Seoul, South Korea, where he was a member of the soccer team at Seoul American High School. Neaverth joins the Cadets as an offensive threat capable of playing forward and midfielder.
Keenan O'Shea played for Richmond United of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy prior to his arrival at West Point and led the program in goals during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. A native of Chesterfield, Va., O'Shea was among the IMG Top 150 prospects in the Class of 2016 and earned Top Drawer Soccer Best XI honors in 2014 and 2015.
Alex Peralta spent time with the Tallahassee Tottenham Hotspur FC club program before coming to the Academy. He also played soccer at Thomasville High School Scholars Academy in his hometown of Thomasville, Ga. Peralta earned Region I Georgia High School Association Player of the Year honors in 2014 and 2015 while leading his high school team in goals each season. Peralta was also a member of the Georgia Olympic Development program, where he served as team captain and led the team in goals at the Region Camp in 2015.
A defender from Orange, Calif., Zane Rojas played club soccer for West Coast FC and competed at Servite High School in Anaheim, Calif. He was selected as Servite's Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and was an All-Trinity League first-team choice during his junior and senior years. Rojas also spent time with the Orange County Blues of the Premier Development League.
Justin Stoll played soccer as a member of the New Jersey Cedar Stars Academy of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and was named to the development academy's Atlantic Division Best XI in November 2014. Stoll also played goalkeeper at Pompton Lakes High School in his hometown of Pompton Lakes, N.J., while also competing on the track & field team.
Army begins its 2016 regular season with a home match against service academy-rival Air Force on Aug. 26.
