McCravey's Leap Nominated for an ESPY

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The national phenomenon that is Kasey McCravey's leap over the Lehigh catcher to score in Army West Point softball's semi-final game has not only gained her attention worldwide, but has also garnered her a nomination for an ESPY Award. The ESPY Awards are presented annually by ESPN to amateur and professional athletes for a variety of accomplishments.
Fans are encouraged to vote for McCravey's play on the ESPN site and on Twitter. The Best Play category is setup in a bracket format with McCravey's leap as the 12-seed. The final winner will be presented the 2016 ESPY for Best Play on July 13, at the live show in Los Angeles.
NOTES ON McCRAVEY
McCravey was named the Patriot League's 2016 Player of the Year for the first time in her career after gaining the title of Defensive Player of the Year in 2015. She led the league in hitting during the regular season with a .403 average. McCravey boasted a league-leading 60 runs, 75 hits, 109 total bases, 30 stolen bases across 214 plate appearances and 186 at-bats.
Overall, McCravey broke Army's single-season records in runs scored and total bases, while eclipsing the top spot in five career categories including runs (174), RBI (159), home runs (26) and walks (81). She was placed on the All-Patriot League first team and was also recognized on the NCFA All-Region second team honors for the Northeast Region.
McCravey graduated from the U.S. Military Academy this past May and commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
