Swimming and Diving Welcomes Stanley to Staff

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point head men's and women's swimming and diving head coach Mickey Wender announced the addition of Nicki Stanley as an assistant swimming coach on Wednesday.
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Nicki Stanley into the Army swimming and diving family," said Wender. "Nicki has a wealth and variety of experiences that make her uniquely qualified to join our staff. As a former head coach, she has a great understanding of what it takes to create a successful program. She has also been mentored by some of the best in the business.
"I was very impressed with her coaching ability and personality after she worked our camps last summer. When I had the opportunity to recruit a new coach she was the first person I called. She's a great fit for our athletes and the institution and she complements our staff in a variety of ways. I'm really looking forward to working together and have no doubt that she will do great things for our program and the United States Military Academy."
Stanley joins the Black Knights following a two-year stretch as the Assistant Swim Coach and Aquatics Director at Ohio Wesleyan.
Prior to her time with the Battling Bishops, Stanley spent two years as the Head Coach, Aquatics Director and Campus Visitation Coordinator at the College of St. Mary – Nebraska. Throughout her two years at the helm of the program, the Flames ranked second in the nation among all divisions in team grade-point average during all four semesters.
Stanley began her coaching career at Wheeling Jesuit University, serving as a graduate assistant coach for the men's and women's teams while earning her M.S. in Organizational Leadership. She helped guide the men's team to an Appalachian Swimming Conference Title in 2010 and 2011, while the women's team finished runner-up in 2010 and 2011. The coaching staff was awarded ASC Men's Team Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011, along with the ASC Male and Female Swimmer of the Year awards.
Stanley is a 2009 graduate of Fairmont State University where she spent four years on the team. She served as the team's captain of the Fighting Falcons from 2006 to 2008. In 2005, Stanley was named an Academic All-American and helped the Women's Team earn the top spot in the Division II Academic Championships in the United States. She has been a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa Physical Science and Education Honorary and is an active member of the Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority since 2007.
