Schultz, Moore Named USILA Scholars
June 13, 2016 | Men's Lacrosse
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its Scholar All-Americans recently and seniors Austin Schultz and Jimbo Moore were among the names honored for their work in the classroom.
The pair was included on a list of 43 scholar-athletes from around the country. Army was the only Patriot League member with two honorees as there were a total of seven players from the conference from six institutions.
Â
Schultz graduated in May with a degree in Economics and recorded a 3.625 cumulative grade point average at West Point and was an All-Patriot League First Team performer in 2016, while also being picked as a Patriot League All-Academic Team member as well.
Moore joined Schultz in graduating from West Point in May. He earned a degree in Systems Engineering with a 3.582 GPA. Moore enjoyed his best season as a Black Knight in 2016 as an All-Patriot League First Team selection for the first time in his career. He was named to the All-Academic Team as well.
In 1989 the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.
A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.
Please note that simply being a member of the North/South team and/or being All League/Conference does not make the Student-Athlete a lock for the award. Each Individual will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Scholar AA committee.
