April 15, 2016 | Women's Track and Field
Meet Information
The Black Knights competed at the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational hosted by Virginia last weekend. Despite adverse weather conditions, five underclassmen had podium finishes. The freshmen Abby Halbrook and Cassie Mundekis placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 1500 meter run. Halbrook edged her Cadet teammate with a time of 4:40.75 compared to 4:40.86 for Mundekis.
Army is no stranger to this event. Last season, sophomore Courtney Dooley paced the way in the 400 meter dash with a time of 2:19.15.
The meet will begin with the 10,000 meter run but the first Cadet to compete will be in the 1500 meter run.
"If you have people doing what their supposed to do, and you put them in the right situation and their trained properly, then that's what you can get performances where people reach their physical potential," said Smith.

HOW TO FOLLOW"It will be a step up from last weekend," said Army Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mike Smith. "We should be getting better.
