BOSTON – The Army West Point women's basketball clinched a share of the Patriot League regular-season title after defeating Boston University, 79-44, on Wednesday evening at Case Gym. Army also collected its 26th victory of the year to set a new team record for most wins in a season.
The Black Knights win their 16th straight to finish the regular season 16-0 and improve to 26-2 overall and 17-1 in the league. Army will likely enter the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 1 seed, as the Black Knights currently hold a higher RPI rating than Bucknell, who also finished 17-1 in the conference. The new College Basketball News RPI ratings, released tomorrow, will determine the final seeding.
Senior Kelsey Minato became the Patriot League's career scoring leader, man or woman, after finishing with a game-high 32 points. Minato knocked in a three-pointer with 8:58 remaining in the third quarter to reach 2,465 career points and pass 2003 Bucknell graduate Molly Creamer's previous league mark of 2,464.
