Plomb Highlights All-Patriot League Selections

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Seniors Tanner Plomb, Kevin Ferguson and Kyle Wilson earned First, Second and Third Team All-Patriot League honors, respectively, for their play during the 2015-16 regular season, it was announced Monday.
Patriot League men's basketball head coaches voted on the All-League Team and major awards, and could not vote for their own student-athletes or themselves.
Plomb, who hails from Mukwonago, Wis., is 30th in the country and leads the Patriot League in scoring with 20 points per game. He is currently 14th in Academy history in scoring with 1,305 career points. He ranks third in the conference in three-point field-goal percentage at 36 percent and is third in three-pointers made with 72 on the year. Plomb's value isn't limited to his scoring ability as he averages 5.8 rebounds per game, which is second on the team. On the defensive glass, Plomb pulls in 5.1 rebounds, which ranks fourth in the conference.
In addition to his second-team nod, Ferguson claimed a spot on the Patriot League's inaugural All-Defensive Team. The conference's all-time leader in field goal percentage led the league with a 61.2 percent shooting percentage and was first in rebounding with 9.7 per game. His 3.88 offensive rebounds per game ranks 12th in the nation. In addition, Ferguson averaged 13.4 points per game and totaled 11 double doubles, which was the highest total in the conference. Ferguson, from Berkeley Heights, N.J., was second in the Patriot League in blocked shots and upped his career tally to 199, which is fifth in League history.
Wilson earned a spot on the third team after averaging 16.2 points per game, which was fourth in the Patriot League. He led the conference in three-pointers per game (3.13) and was 20th in the nation in that category. Wilson's 94 threes rank 10th in the NCAA and are fourth on Army's single-season list. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native is fourth in Academy history and fifth in the Patriot League record book in scoring with 1,966 career points.
Plomb's recognition is the second All-Patriot League selection of his career after he was named to the second team in 2014-15. Ferguson's award is the first of his career, while Wilson garnered an All-Patriot League citation for the fourth straight year. He was the Rookie of the Year as a freshman, a first-team choice in 2013-14 and secured third team honors last season.
Army opens the Patriot League Tournament on Thursday night when it hosts No.5 Colgate in the quarterfinal round. Opening tip from Christl Arena is 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
