Men’s Basketball Goes For Fifth Consecutive Win

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team tries to win its fifth straight game on Tuesday night when it takes on Boston University at Case Gym. The Black Knights and Terriers tip off on the American Sports Network at 7 p.m.

Last time out, Kyle Wilson's three-pointer at the end of regulation sent the game to overtime and Kevin Ferguson's putback with 0.7 seconds left in the second OT gave Army an 80-78 victory over Navy. Ferguson registered his sixth consecutive double-double with 22 points and a career-high 19 rebounds to lead the Black Knights. Tanner Plomb scored a game-high 24 and Kyle Wilson had 11 in the win. Dylan Cox handed out a game-high eight assists. Army trailed by 13 with 8:36 to play and by five with less than 30 seconds remaining.
The win improved Army to 17-11 on the season, including an 8-8 mark in Patriot League play, and gave the Black Knights their most wins since the 1977-78 season.
Boston University enters Tuesday's game with a 10-6 Patriot League mark following a setback to Bucknell on Sunday. That loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Terriers.
It was announced that Army's regular season finale against Lehigh on Saturday Feb. 27 will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. The senior day tilt against the Mountain Hawks will begin at noon.
Army has played 19 games with its regular starting lineup of Dylan Cox, Kyle Wilson, Plomb, Larry Toomey and Ferguson. In those games, Army is 13-6 and averages 82.2 points per game and outscores its opponents by 4.2 points per game. Cox has a 93-41 assist-to-turnover ratio, Wilson is scoring 17.1 points per game and Ferguson averages 13.8 points and 10.3 rebounds.
In the nine without its full complement of starters, Army's scoring drops to 71.4 points per game and the Black Knights are making 8.4 threes per game. The Black Knights are 4-5 in those games.

Together, Wilson and Plomb were the top scoring duo in the Patriot League last year with an average of 33.3 points per game. Wilson was first in scoring in the conference at 17.5 points per game, while Plomb ranked fourth overall with a 15.8 points per game average. Plomb and Wilson are the top scoring duo in the Patriot League in 2015-16 at 37 points per game.
In 2015-16, Army is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 3.4 boards per game. The last time an Army team had a rebounding margin of better than five per game was in 1970 (+5.3). Ferguson leads the Patriot League in rebounding with 9.5 boards per game. Ferguson is eighth in the country in offensive rebounds with a Patriot League-leading 4.00 per contest.
