Stackpole, Grabher Earn Weekly Honors
February 15, 2016 | Men's Lacrosse
WEST POINT, N.Y. – After downing UMass on Friday, Tim Stackpole and Dan Grabher were both honored with weekly awards by the Patriot League for their performances.
Stackpole was named the Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, while Grabher was selected as Faceoff Specialist of the Week.
Stackpole was all over the field for the Black Knights, forcing five turnovers, mostly in the clearing game. He finished with a career best five caused turnovers and picked up two ground balls for Army in its season opener against UMass. He helped a defensive unit hold UMass to five goals, which was the lowest in a season opener for an opponent against Army since 2008.
Grabher split time with senior Alex Daly in faceoffs during Friday's 9-5 win over UMass. He won eight faceoffs and picked up five ground balls in the win. He also was one of eight goal scorers for the Black Knights. Grabher's goal came after UMass had cut Army's lead to one at 3-2 and it came 20 seconds after the Minutemen had scored.
Army is back on the field this weekend with a pair of home games. On Saturday, the Black Knights take on Rutgers at Michie Stadium, followed by a Sunday matchup against VMI.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased online, by calling the ticket office at 1-877-TIX-ARMY or in person at Gate 3 of Michie Stadium. The ticket office at Michie Stadium is also open one hour prior to faceoff.
