America's Game Pulls In Highest Rating in 22 Years

NEW YORK - CBS Sports' coverage of the 117th Army-Navy Game, presented by USAA on Saturday, which saw Army beat Navy for the first time since 2001, scored its highest rating in 22 years with an average overnight household rating/share of 5.6/13, up 10 percent from last year's 5.1/12 in the metered markets.
The game pulled in a 5.0 national rating was the second-highest since CBS began televising in 1996. The 1999 game remains at the top of the list with a 5.1 rating. The New York market got a 3.7 rating, while Baltimore was the highest at a 13.2 rating.
Saturday's overnight rating of 5.6/13 was the highest since a 6.5/19 on Dec. 3, 1994. The game peaked at a 6.9/14 rating from 6:00-6:30 p.m. ET.
Overnights for the game have now increased for six consecutive seasons. Since moving to the week after the conference championship games in 2009, the rivalry has topped a 4.0 overnight in seven of eight years.
It was another classic in Baltimore with Army jumping out to a 14-0 lead at the break thanks to two touchdowns from Andy Davidson. Navy clawed back with 17-straight points to take a 17-14 advantage in the fourth quarter on a 41-yard run from quarterback Zach Abey. The Black Knights didn't back down as quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw marched the team down the field for an 80-yard gamewinning drive, finishing with a tough run to the end zone to give Army its first win since 2001.Â
