McGraw Leads Five All-Patriot League Selections
November 07, 2016 | Men's Soccer
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Freshman defender Zac McGraw was named to the All-Patriot League first team to highlight a total of five Army men's soccer players selected to all-league teams. Seniors Christian Clark and Tanner Vosvick, junior Marcos Arroyo, and freshman Rex Epps were all honored on the third team.
Â
McGraw earns his first All-Patriot League mention after starting in all 18 regular-season matches, including playing every minute in all but one game. The Torrance, Calif., native totaled one goal and three assists in the regular season, including the game-winning goal and an assist in Army's 2-1 double-overtime win at Colgate on Oct. 26. He also contributed assists at St. Francis Brooklyn on Sept. 18 and at Lehigh on Oct. 8.
Â
Clark collects his third all-league honor after being named to the first team in 2014 and the third team in 2015. The senior started in 13 games, missing five matches due to injury. He finished the regular season with a pair of goals and an assist to include the game winner in a 4-1 victory at Lehigh on Oct. 8.
Â
Vosvick's third-team all-league mention comes as the third postseason honor of his career, following inclusion on the second team in 2013 and the third team in 2015. Vosvick saw action in 14 contests after suffering an early-season injury that kept him sidelined for four games. He was credited with an assist in a 2-0 shutout of Stony Brook on Oct. 18 and in Army's 2-1 setback to Bucknell to close out the regular season on Nov. 5.
Â
Arroyo draws his first All-Patriot League honor after landing on the third team this season. The junior from Oviedo, Fla., started in all 18 regular-season matches at the midfield position while playing every minute in 15 of those games. He finished with three assists, including a two-assist performance during a 2-1 double-overtime win at Colgate on Oct. 26.
Â
Epps also earns his first All-Patriot League honor after tying atop the conference rankings with 10 goals. He led the league with five game-winning goals, including game clinchers against Siena (Sept. 13), Sacred Heart (Sept. 27), Holy Cross (Oct. 5), Stony Brook (Oct. 18) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 1). Epps started in all 18 regular-season matches for the Black Knights and was selected as Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice. His 10 goals are the most by an Army men's soccer player since John Brence (USMA '91) scored 12 in 1988.
Â
Seeded sixth in the Patriot League Tournament, Army travels to No. 3 Colgate for a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
