Black Knights Release 2017 Spring Schedule
November 25, 2016 | Men's Golf
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point golf team has released the first portion of its schedule for the 2017 season. The Black Knights are set to compete in five tournaments along the east coast from February to April.
Army will open the 2017 season with a trip to the University of North Florida for the The Hayt Invitational from February 24-26. The three-day event will be held at Sawgrass Country Club, where the Black Knights finished in 11th place a year ago.
After almost a month off, Army will return to action at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington. From March 19-20, the Black Knights will hit the Country Club of Landfall in hopes of improving on an impressive third place finish in 2016.
Your 2016 Patriot League champions will then make a trip to Augusta, Ga., and battle in the 3M Augusta Invitational from April 1-2. Play will take place at Forest Hills Golf Club, which was renovated by the late Arnold Palmer in 2004, and has seen the likes of Bobby Jones, Phil Mickelson and Davis Love III venture through the 7,140-yard (Par 72) course.
Upon returning from Georgia, the Black Knights will head north to the University of Connecticut for the "Till Duty is Done" Collegiate Invitational from April 15-16. Army shot a team score of two-over-par last year en route to a third place finish at Mohegan Sun Golf Club.
The Black Knights will next return to Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y., for the Colgate Spring Individual Event hosted by Colgate University. Army recorded a third place finish earlier this year at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, tallying a team score of 907 (+37).
