Army Receiving Votes in USCHO Poll

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After capturing a weekend sweep over Canisius, the Army West Point hockey team is receiving votes in this week's USCHO Division I Hockey Poll. It is the second time this season that the Black Knights have earned votes, the last being on Oct. 14.

The Cadets shutout the Golden Griffins on Friday night with a score of 3-0 before topping them the following night by a score of 5-2.

It was the third shutout of the year for Army and goaltender Parker Gahagen who is currently tied for first nationally for posting shutout victories.

The Black Knights' defensive unit is also gaining national attention as it is the second-ranked scoring defense with an average of 1.33 goals per game, and is the second-best penalty killing defense with a .918 efficiency.

Other AHA opponents receiving votes in this week's poll are Air Force (11) and Robert Morris (1). The Cadets picked up a solo vote in the poll.
The USCHO.com Poll consists of 50 voters, including coaches and beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.

The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a production of USCHO.com, which provides in-depth coverage of college hockey.

The Black Knights travel to RIT on Friday and Saturday for two Atlantic Hockey contests, both slated for 7:05 p.m.
