Nunnery named AAA Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – First year Bethany Nunnery of the Army West Point women's cross country team was named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Army-Navy Star Meet presented by USAA on Saturday afternoon.

Nunnery was the overall champion of the meet, completing the course with a time of 22 minutes and 36.30 seconds and was more than 30 seconds ahead of the second place runner. She has been leading the way for the Black Knights all season as the top finisher in three of their four meets.

The Kingston, R.I., Native was the first Army runner to take the top overall spot in the race since 2009, and the first Black Knight freshman to place first since 2002.

Army returns to action Oct. 29, as the team heads to Easton, Pa., for the Patriot League Championships.
